Free Mammograms

Guidelines

All program participants meeting the following guidelines will be eligible for a free mammogram, clinical breast examination (CBE), and education on breast self-examination (BSE):

  • Women 40 years of age or older;
  • Women whose date of last screening mammogram was 12 months or longer;
  • Women whose income is at or below 250% of the federal poverty index guidelines;
  • Women who work or reside in Kansas counties of Douglas, Jackson, Jefferson, Osage, Pottawatomie, Shawnee and Wabunsee

Program participants who are eligible for free breast cancer screening services (CBE and mammogram) are referred to local mammography providers in Shawnee County, all of whom contract with the Race Against Breast Cancer (RABC) for these services.  The RABC funds these services for women 40-49 years of age.  Women who are 50-64 years of age are referred to the Early Detection Works program administered through the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
